2/22-2/26 Blog Post

Book Whisperer
Change of plans again.  In the last post I wrote that I will come by on 2/29 during PLC and discuss chapters 5 and 6 but I forgot that is report card prep time on that Monday.  I also have loved having time to discuss at staff meetings so I am changing it to us discussing Chapters 5 and 6 at the staff meeting on 3/16 (have your Frayer Model slide finished by then).  That means we will be discussing Chapter 7 and the entire book at a staff meeting after spring break.  I wanted to get it done before spring break but we will wrap everything up after break.

Staff Appreciation Week
We are looking at changing staff appreciation week from 4/11-4/15 to 5/16-5/20.  The reason for this is April is now so busy with Open House and Casino night the week before we figured it might be better to have it later in the year.  Please let me know if this does not work for any reason.  I know state testing is going on at this time but not sure that should really change Staff Appreciation Week.

A Quick Look Ahead at Next Year
Just a reminder that if you are interested in teaching a different grade level please let me know.  I won't know yet what spots we have open since it is still early in the enrollment process.  We never know what will come up and it is always nice to know what people are thinking in case we do have different openings or movement.  We will look at budget for next year at one of the next two staff meetings.

What Some Other Schools are doing instead of AR Tests
At the school I visited last week I asked what they do since they do not do AR tests.  They have students fill out a google form and then under the google form you can see what other students have read.  Once again no decision has been made but it is interesting to see what others schools do.
