Ice Cream Social
Thank you to everyone who was able to come to the Ice Cream Social and scoop ice cream.  I really appreciate you being out there helping out.

Beautiful night for an Ice Cream Social.  Coolest weather we have had at an Ice Cream Social since I've been here.

Art Schedule
Thank you everyone for looking over the schedule.  I had to make 2 changes and I spoke to the teachers that it effected but if you see anything else please let me know.

Article to Read before the Staff Meeting on 9/7
A reminder to please read the following article before our staff meeting on 9/7.  We will discuss it then.  As always the link to the agenda in under A Look at the Week Ahead.  7 Conditions for Effective Writing

Wall Ball fun.

The district put this out last week in the newsletter but if you are looking for when your grade level PD days are you can check here: Grade Level PD Days This spreadsheet lists the PD groups, dates, locations, and times for each session.  You can also find the dates on the Ed Services Calendar on the RCSD Educator website.

Starting next week the class that has the cleanest tables will get to bring one of these Oscar the Grouch stuff animals to their class.  This is for grades K, 1, 2, 3.  Trying to create a little competition and have some fun keeping the lunch room clean.

CELDT Testing
CELDT Testing starts next week on Tuesday September 6th through September 9th. Testing will then be back on September 21 and 22 to finish up testing. Kim has been working on the schedule and will email it out when it is all finished.

Brain break in Robin S's class.

Assembly Seating Chart
Here is the seating chart for assemblies. If you see any issues let me know. We will try to do most assemblies outside when possible. Because sometimes we are inside and somtimes outside it can get confusing where to sit. On the top of the chart it says left or right side of the aisle facing the stage and that is probabaly the easiest way to think about it.
2016-2017 Assembly Seating Chart

Melissa's class was at ReCreate this week with KCRA3 doing a story on ReCreate.  The story will air sometime either September 16th or 17th.

Buddy Classes
Here are the buddy classes for this year:
2016-2017 Buddy Classes

More PD opportunities
Sacramento Math Project: Saturday Seminar include information on how to create and implement student tasks that provide students opportunities to make sense, persevere, reason abstractly, construct viable arguments, analyze the reasoning of others, develop mathematical models to explore or understand situations and phenomenon, select tools appropriate for the task at hand, use and communicate appropriate levels of precision, recognize and apply structure, and recognize and apply repeated reasoning. You probably recognized all of those actions as the Standards of Mathematical Practice.
Rocklin Maker Faire
Featuring both established and emerging local “makers,” the Rocklin Mini Maker Faire is a family-friendly celebration featuring rockets and robots, digital fabrication, DIY science and technology, urban farming and sustainability, alternative energy, bicycles, unique hand-made crafts, music and local food, and educational workshops and installations. This year, classes are invited to build a robot to be displayed at the Faire! Show your school pride, artistic flair, or engineering talents, and let your students shine as a part of the event. The robots will be displayed near the FREE Robot Toss, where students can put mass and trajectory formulas to the test watching their mini robot fly for distance! Get details about building a robot at: School Robot Project
